Flower Tutorial

This tutorial was made with my oldest daughter in mind... I can't even pick up a sponge with out thinking of her.  She is grown now but I still have this image of her sponging litaraly EVERYthing she could stamp on.  And don't be jealous of my perfect manicure.... What stamper doesn't have ink all over their fingers!  lol

So the first step is to find some scrap two sided paper or you can use plain paper that you have stamped on both sides as long as there is a difference between the two sides.  I used double sided paper because I have tons of it that I never use because I can never decide which side to use.  Punch the paper with a heart shaped punch..... the size heart you use will determin what size your final flower will be.

The heart is folded in half.  Then sponge the edge of the heart.  Not all of the edge will be shown after the flower is made so if you only want to sponge the parts that are shown I have a photo that shows what area you would need to accent.  I have tried this by using a lighter color than the paper but it just didn't look right so I stuck with the darker ink.

After the heart is sponged fold down one of the heart halfs so it shows the color inside.

After it is all folded I sponge the outside if the crease.

I placed mine on a large glue dot on the back of my stampin scub so I could get the glue dot off and place it on my card where ever I wanted.

Keep placing all the petals around in a circle.  Stampin' UP! has awesome dots that are very forgiving so if you place a petal and you need to move it you are able to.

Add an embelishment to the center of your flower and you are done!!

Cute and Easy!!

Here are a few quick and super cute cards we made at at stamp club with my upline!! The thank you card is made with the Magnificent Maple and Gorgeous Grunge set. Very versatile and a great filler!! Halloween

I just love my Big Shot and the texture that it allows me to give cards.  This was made using and embossing folder (spider web).  Add a few other textures like some ribbon, lace and a few  brads and it is a very simple layered card that doesn't look simple.

Welcome to the SUStars blog hop!! I'm sure you enjoyed Carolyn’s blog, she has some really beautiful artwork doesn’t she?? This year I am feeling a bit nostalgic. I’ve been stamping for 12 years now, and I am usually so wrapped up in how to do the newest techniques that I have gotten away from some of the simple things that made me fall in love with stamping to begin with. For that reason I wanted to do some projects that really get me back to my roots. I hope you enjoy your time here on my blog as I take you along my memory lane.

The first project that I did really took me back (pre stamping back!! Lol) . When I was little we had some Jewish relatives so we would always find blue or silver wrapping paper to wrap their “non” Christmas gifts in. I always LOVED that color combination and it is a very nice way to let someone that isn’t Christian know that you are still thinking of them during the holiday.

The cards are made using Marina Mist, Night of Navy, Whisper White and Silver cardstock. I also embellished with our self sticking rhinestones. The card itself has been run through the big shot with the Distressed plate just to give it a little texture.

The next set of cards reminds me of one of the things that I use to really enjoy about stamping, spending time with my Mom. My mom and I started stamping together and she fell in love with the polished stone technique. There also use to be a joke around the stamping group that we were in that every card my mother did was blue (it really was true!)

The colors used in these cards are Pacific Point and Baja Breeze. It uses the snowflake punch as well as the large scallop circle. It is also embellished with a silver eyelet. Along with the polished stone technique I also used a technique called “hidden Image” if you look carefully in the background you can see snowflakes . The stamp sets used on this set are the Serine Snowflakes and Curly Cute.

The next card is a super easy card made with Very Vanilla and Old Olive. Old Olive was a staple color of mine when I first started stamping and I still love it. The sets used are the wonderful “Lovely as a tree” and “Perfect Punches”. This was one of the first sets that my Mom bought and I will be crushed when it is retired. It is so versatile and can be used for so many different things. Although my Mom probably hopes that it is retired soon so I will give it back to her!!! Lol

The next three cards are also very easy and would be great for a workshop or stamp a stack! I used Whisper White on all three and then varied the background colors and added rhinestones to a few of the snowflakes. I used the Northern Flurry embossing folder to get the gorgeous snowflakes on the white cardstock and used the Scallop Trim Border on the accent color. The accent colors I used where Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz, and Night of Navy but any of our colors would have looked great!

The last project I made was a little gift bag. Although my first love is really the cards I use to love making simple 3D items to give away. For this bag I used Night of Navy and Whisper White cardstock. The ink was white Craft ink and the snowflakes are sparkling with the help of Galaxy Fine Stampin’ Glitter. I will have a tutorial on how to make these on my blog next week after the blog hop is over so if you don’t already have this pattern in your file stop back by I guarantee you will use this for at least one person on your gift list!!

Well, thanks for coming along with me on my memories journey. Now hop on over to Deborah’s blog and show her some love too!!

How exciting!! This is my first blog tour and I want to thank Patti for all her help! As a new demonstrator and member of SUDSOL I have to admit that I have learned so much!! There are so many benefits to being a member just in the business reference section alone and that doesn’t even include the wonderful resource that the gallery has! If you are not a member you need to check it out. There is a two week free tour - I know you will join after you see all the information and tools that you have access too!

I have three projects for you. The first is a punched turkey. I know this is not a new idea, however this little turkey only needs the scallop circle punch. The great thing is since we have a few different sizes of the scallop circle you can make it different sizes. I put mine on a bag of Turkey poop. I wasn’t too crazy about the poop poem but it was the best I could find at the time. The beak and feet are just scraps that I cut out and the body is also from the scallop punch.

The second project is a pair of tile coasters. This is made from the serene snowflake set. I know you can stamp on tile in many ways, this particular pair was stamped using paint. One was actually stamped with the paint, the other the paint was sponged on the background and the snowflake was stamped using stays on. After I baked them I sprayed them with clear lacquer paint.

The third project is a “manly” fall card. I used a technique called texture duet. I used two different embossing plates to create the double effect and then aged both pieces of cardstock by layering color. I used Lovely As A Tree on Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and Always Artichoke card stock. The different colors that where sponged on included Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, and Early Espresso. I also used the black Raven Lace from the Mini Holiday Catalogue.

I hope you enjoyed my blog and your tour so far. Thanks for looking!!

I am super excited to finally have a stamping blog up and running!!! My first post is the Halloween card that I just finished. Sorry to spoil it for those of you that are getting one via snail mail. This card is almost completely cased from SCS but I loved how it used such nontraditional Halloween colors instead of the normal orange and black.

Ok – here is the recipe

Cardstock is Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black and Old Olive
Ink – Basic Black
I used the Spider Web embossing folder, our new Glimmer Brads, Raven lace and black waffle paper. The stamp set was Dark and Dreary. These are all found in the Holiday Mini Catty. (if you don’t have one yet there is a link here on the blog or call me and I will get you one!)
